Just in... Maverick Magazine have given the album a glowing 4* review.

Here's just a flavour...

"A stunning album brimming with full-on dynamics and diversity - passion oozes from this record... this collection of melodies, soaring vocals, passionate musicianship and beautiful lyrical content creates quite a stunning album... Each song is individual and shining through in originality, as is One Deep Breath, with all of the elements to make it on to popular radio..."

Monday 18th January 2010 - New Release dates, Maverick Magazine, East Grinstead and beyond!

David @ The Floe HQ here with gigs news and the new release schedule, but first...

The splendid people at Maverick Magazine have got in first amongst the glossy Music monthlies and are running a feature on us in the February issue, out now. Don't be fooled by the 'country, folk, bluegrass and roots' thing... they cover lots of really good music outside these genres too... which clearly is great for us! Have a look at their web site at www.maverick-country.com for more on how to get hold of a copy.

release dates..

For lots of good reasons (with apologies for the delay) we've put the release of the album back from it's original date of 1st Feb to 15th March.

Two weeks prior to this on 1st March, we're releasing a single 'One Deep Breath'. We'll be posting a message near the time to let you know how you can help to make sure the single gets heard as much as possible!

gigs...

...after what feels like months, we're really looking forward to hitting the road for a little batch of gigs... where we will of course be playing songs from the new album.

Between now and 13th Feb (Rondo Theatre, Bath) we'll be taking in seven counties, some secret shows, a few old favourite venues and some new ones for us, starting officially with The Grub Cafe, East Grinstead this Friday - www.grubonline.co.uk

We'll be mixing up the sets quite a bit, so if you're tempted to come to more than one of the dates (and some of you have already told us you are...cheers!) hopefully you'll get a different show each time.

Most of this run of dates are the full band in acoustic mode. However, for fans of the noisier version of us, we'll be bringing out the electric guitars, Liz's new all-singing-all-dancing keyboard, and the very talented Mr Andy Trill on bass duties for Chelmsford (30/1) and Stourbridge (6/2).

We look forward to seeing lots of you out there, and thank you for joining us on the journey once again... with your support, this year is going to be a lot of fun!

Tuesday 22nd December 2009 - A festive thank you from The Floe

Hi all,

As we approach the forthcoming festivities all of us here at The Floe HQ would like to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for the new year. We have everything crossed for an exceedingly exciting 2010 and really hope that you will continue to not only follow our progress, but be actively involved in the journey along with us!

The recent victory of the campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to the Christmas Number One spot has further proved the power that people like yourselves have to rival the Goliaths of the music industry and confirms that, with enough passion and determination, it is perfectly possible for independent artists and their fans to work together to get themselves heard! Please don’t underestimate how much we need your support, and how much it is appreciated!

So…we bid farewell to 2009 and ring in a pivotal year ahead! Plenty of gigs in the diary so do come along to something soon and if you're not already on the mailing list - what are you playing at!?! - you're missing out on loads of exclusive treats. Sign up right this minute before we tell Father Christmas what a very silly boy/girl you've been! ;-)

Thanks once again for your loyalty and support this year and here’s to a happy, healthy and successful year ahead for all of us.

Very best wishes from all the team at The Floe HQ.

Thursday 3rd December 2009 - I Hope You Know campaign update from Sarah

Hi all,

Sarah here from The Floe with a celebratory 'I Hope You Know' campaign update and message!

Firstly, thank you all once again for your incredible support. Since the 'I Hope You Know' single campaign was launched on November 9th (a year to the day since I donated a kidney to my boyfriend Paul) there has been an incredible wave of generosity and encouragement from every angle. The national media have really helped to promote the story, charities and organisations have spread the message on our behalf, and individuals have done a fantastic job of championing the cause. Special thanks to The Transplant Trust for their continued support and guidance.

To every one of you who has signed the NHS Organ Donor Register, downloaded the 'I Hope You Know' single, visited the www.ihopeyouknow.co.uk site, joined the Facebook cause, or passed on the info to friends/family/colleagues as a result of the campaign - thank you thank you thank you. 'I Hope You Know' what a difference you have personally made.

We are yet to receive the first month's figures for single downloads and NHS register sign ups, but judging by the response I am confident that we will have made an impressive difference. I will let you know the totals as they start to come in, although this will be a rolling campaign so we hope to continue to sell/promote/raise awareness well into 2010 and beyond. We have already raised over £1000+ in cash donations, without even accounting for online sales so this is a great start. All money raised will be donated to The Transplant Trust.

If you haven't visited the I Hope You Know cause page on Facebook yet then it's worth a look when you get a moment as I've been keeping it updated with scans/links to all the major publicity for the campaign. Our piece in Pick Me Up magazine is still on the shelves and the BBC Essex interview from Monday is still available to listen to online. We now look forward to our feature in Cosmopolitan magazine which is published in January (February issue) and all the other exciting awareness raising events which we have lined up for the new year - details to follow soon.

The band continues to gain momentum and we are thrilled that the single has been so well received. The album from which 'I Hope You Know' was taken - 'No Looking Back' - will be released nationally on February 1st 2010 so keep an eye on www.thefloe.com for details.

Thanks again for your ongoing support. Please do keep promoting the campaign even after this initial flurry of activity dies down as the issue of organ donation is certainly not going away! Keep talking, keep signing up, keep downloading, keep on keeping on!

All the very best for the festive season ahead. A great time to reflect with our loved ones, appreciate what we have and celebrate a very successful end to 2009. Who knows what 2010 may bring!

Very best wishes,

Sarah x

Monday 9th November 2009 - SINGLE OUT NOW, PLEASE HELP OUR CAMPAIGN!!!... plus, YouTube is go!

Hi, it's David from The Floe with a very special request...

In the next few moments, without even leaving your chair, you could help save someone's life. Here's how...

Exactly a year ago, Sarah from the band gave her boyfriend Paul a special, once-in-a-lifetime gift. One of her kidneys!

An unusual present, I know, but Paul would have died without it.

What Sarah did was extraordinary, and I don't expect everyone to do that right now, but every one of us can do our bit...

We have launched a campaign to raise awareness of the need for more people to consider organ donation and it is called 'I Hope You Know'. The name comes from the title of our first single as The Floe, which is released TODAY, 9th November. The release comes on the first anniversary of Paul's transplant, and all the money raised will be donated to The Transplant Trust.

Please do as I have done today:

* Visit www.ihopeyouknow.co.uk to:

* Download the 'I Hope You Know' single.

* Sign the NHS Organ Donor Register.

* then forward this to as many people as possible to spread the 'I Hope You Know...' message.

And that's how you can save a life. Now. Simple!

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

David Booth

p.s. if you don't do downloading, go to the shop page where you can order the 2-track CD! :)

Oh, while I'm here... our YOUTUBE is now brimming over with three videos... go see when you get a min...

Tuesday 6th October 2009 - record album - tick, mix album - tick!, name album - tick!!

We're very pleased to announce that the forthcoming album has now been mixed and is ready to be sent for mastering. Thanks to (Grammy Award winning) mixer Simon Gogerly for all his hard work and late nights! We have also decided on a title this week (not telling yet though!) and are working on the artwork as we speak. A late January 2010 release is looking hopeful so we're getting close people!
